FRESHSTART INJURY MANAGEMENT

Freshstart has been in operation since 1 January 2006 and is a fully independent and accredited agency with WorkCover WA and Medicare. Freshstart Injury Management is a unique organisation who strives to consider the injured worker as the client, with our focus on treatment and recovery.

We believe that to be successful with rehabilitation we need to adopt a holistic approach to recovery, in doing so we rely on the expertise of our team, made up of Psychologists, Exercise Physiologists, Occupational Therapists, a Physiotherapist and a Social Worker. All of our staff are experienced in rehabilitation and the workers compensation system.

Our team understands that rehabilitation needs to be caring and supporting injured patients, not pressuring return to work outcomes as more important than the symptoms and treatment. We employ good people, who care about clients and involve them in all processes of rehabilitation.

There are 3 parts to a rehabilitation case, these are:

  1. Treatment
  2. Return to work rehabilitation
  3. Understanding your rights and responsibilities

Rehabilitation providers have a great deal of influence in a person's case and by recognising and understanding all three elements our team are able to work towards a fair outcome for the injured worker.

What might an injured worker experience while in the compensation system with an injury?

  • Pain
  • Limitations (Work, activities of daily living, self-care)
  • Poor sleep
  • Financial loss or insecurity
  • Possible vocational insecurity
  • Working relationships with insurer, employer, rehabilitation provider, lawyer
  • Side effects of medications
  • Poor mood
  • Feelings of lack of control
  • Lack of Knowledge

It is important to have professionals who understand and enquire about your situation. They should then set about facilitating the opportunity to bridge the gap between your current situation and your life as it was without injury.
